Body:
Bluetooth 2.1

Bluetooth Core Specification Version 2.1 is fully backward-compatible with 1.1, and was adopted by the Bluetooth SIG on July 26, 2007.[9] This specification includes the following features:

  • Extended inquiry response: provides more information during the inquiry procedure to allow better filtering of devices before connection. This information includes the name of the device, a list of services the device supports, plus other information like the time of day and pairing information.
  • Sniff subrating: reduces the power consumption when devices are in the sniff low-power mode, especially on links with asymmetric data flows. Human interface devices (HID) are expected to benefit the most, with mouse and keyboard devices increasing their battery life by a factor of 3 to 10. It lets devices decide how long they will wait before sending keepalive messages to one another. Previous Bluetooth implementations featured keep alive message frequencies of up to several times per second. In contrast, the 2.1 specification allows pairs of devices to negotiate this value between them to as infrequently as once every 5 or 10 seconds.
  • Encryption Pause Resume: enables an encryption key to be refreshed, enabling much stronger encryption for connections that stay up for longer than 23.3 hours (one Bluetooth day).
  • Secure Simple Pairing: radically improves the pairing experience for Bluetooth devices, while increasing the use and strength of security. It is expected that this feature will significantly increase the use of Bluetooth.[11]
  • Near Field Communication (NFC) cooperation: automatic creation of secure Bluetooth connections when NFC radio interface is also available. This functionality is part of the Secure Simple Pairing where NFC is one way of exchanging pairing information. For example, a headset should be paired with a Bluetooth 2.1 phone including NFC just by bringing the two devices close to each other (a few centimeters). Another example is automatic uploading of photos from a mobile phone or camera to a digital picture frame just by bringing the phone or camera close to the frame.

Bluetooth 3.0 (actual version number TBD)

The next version of Bluetooth after v2.1, code-named Seattle (the version number of which is TBD) has many of the same features, but is most notable for plans to adopt ultra-wideband (UWB) radio technology. This will allow Bluetooth use over UWB radio, enabling very fast data transfers of up to 480 Mbit/s, while building on the very low-power idle modes of Bluetooth.

[edit] Bluetooth low energy

On June 12, 2007, Nokia and Bluetooth SIG announced that Wibree will be a part of the Bluetooth specification, as an ultra-low power Bluetooth technology.[15] Expected use cases include watches displaying Caller ID information, sports sensors monitoring your heart rate during exercise, and medical devices. The Medical Devices Working Group is also creating a medical devices profile and associated protocols to enable this market. Battery life for devices using Bluetooth low energy technology is designed to last up to one year.

Title: From LAN to WAN
Body:

Hello team members,

This month we are going to continuously taking new challenge.

Our internal network has became a lot of more complicated like other starting up companies, but we will going to the next step that a lot of companies don't do, will adding 2 additional servers from different locations (Phoenix and Waco), the one in Phoenix will be under 24/7 environment and its role will be backup domain service for different location user's convince and it is also a backup solution to prevent any downtime from the primary domain controller (initial IP will be 130.13.9.249, it may change later on).

2nd server will be a VM in Waco that is running a different domain, we need to build the domain trust relationship with our primary server over the internet, purpose of this VM server is share information cross- domain over internet.

All hardware preparation will be ready by the end of next week, once we finish those information sharing, we will achieve the features that used in complex networking, we will be more confident to take client's work and we are going to make a difference with majority of other companies, this is going to a

virtual NOC..

I hope this project can be finished before this coming Christmas and I personally hope this will get our technique to the next level.

Thanks ya'll, let's work together/Yu Yi

Title: Server has been upgraded to 2008 Enterprise server
Body:
For a serial of reasons, we had upgrade our 03 server to 2008 Enterprise server, upgrade go successfully however 03 setting is not able to carry over. All users settings stay the same, I have to say (speed is good) 2ndary 08 server will be up within this week, that will carry UVNC repeater, sharepoint and spiceworks. Shortage: It doesn't support Hyper-V because Hyper-V feature requires a VIIV supported processor.

Project done! Now there are two 2008 Enterprise Server on our network, below are the roles they are playing:
  • Terminal: Doamin Controller, DNS Server, VNC & VPN
  • Probe: Spiceworks & SQL 2008 Enterprise

SQL 08 has been installed and up as well, big news!!!

rest of applications (Sharepoint MOSS 07, Exchange 07, CRM 4.0, AX) are going to run under VMs, once they are reliable we will clone is into a psycial servers

Plan: We still need to get a powerful server that runs VIIV, thet will be in the early 09 plan

Wondered what is causing the slowness, can you make a test by ping my IP and let me know the speed you are getting a response compaing with some major site oversea, for i.e ping www.cnn.com

Also, I need you to wait until the cache is being filled for the 1st time for this site and then close the browser and try to open the same page up to see if that is going to speed up the process

Goal:

  1. Replace spicework logo with 24th Logo
  2. Setting up VNC access
  3. Emble page content into 24century.net page

-------------------------------------------

Will have to use a workstation as the probe to reduce the delay and lost on time, console can to accessed from

Server will be recovered within this week once additional wireless NIC card arrive

-------------------------------------------------------------

70.189.180.129

I can't login. Pls check it out.

Sorry, problem awared, what happened is after I added my 2ndary psycical server, tranffic jamed, my internet service is totally down due to insufficient bandwidth, (there are other people was using it for watching video oversea)

Looks like I will have to order my dedicated HSI (High Speed Internet) then internally servers need to run gige under hardware connection (Gig-Lan), the reliability on wireless is just not reliable enough to run business application.

I could easily order HSI however I may have to move when parents visiting, then it may not be a good idea for the current address.

Will keep you update on the status of the server(s) as soon as problem solved.

Problem still exsit, will have to consider of getting a dedicated line then running hardware

Title: Spiceworks upgrade from 3.1 to 3.2
Body:
Both of our primary servers from diffrent locations Spiceworks probe software has been upgraded to the latest 3.2 version last night, hopefully it will do a better monitoring job, primarily they are patches and hotfix, below are the improvement note:
  1. Fixed application error situation on running certain reports.
  2. Longer timeout has been added so that discovery timeouts with slow DNS servers are avoided..
  3. WOL packets are now working.
  4. Custom attributes on tickets had edit/pivot problems.
  5. Foreign character sets now working (better) for AD login for the User Portal.
  6. Improved processing of incoming emails, which generate tickets in the help desk.
  7. Added some of the dark-versions of icons that were missing. (router, switch, hub, snmp, http, wap, fax)
  8. Scanner not triggering Email alerts from Gmail accounts has been fixed.
  9. You are now allowed to have dashes in email accounts.
  10. Recently closed tickets are now shown on general summary page. Used to only have open.
  11. Added setting to use either NetBios name or IP address for connecting to devices during a scan.
  12. SNMP device names are now UTF8 encoded; for foreign character sets.
  13. Custom attributes are now allowed with same name (when on different device types).
  14. Timeout setting added for snmp timeouts. User configurable (advanced).
  15. Closing tickets from a device view now will allow reopen.
  16. Fixed a duplicate device situation where same IP address is used in different scan ranges.
  17. IT services now will show up under the Today section vs only in the Upcoming section.
  18. Devices (computers) with no known services detect will now trigger an alert.
  19. Users on VISTA are now required to enter proper windows credentials for scanning at install-time. Mainly for UAC problems.
  20. For some snmp scanned devices, they are now being set to the computers group instead of the servers group by default.
  21. Software version info has been cleaned up so duplicate software titles are not shown with different versions. Only the newer one, as determined by the last scan.
  22. Add support for non-ActiveDirectory ldap authentication. (mainly for OS X servers).
  23. Cleaned up situation where some devices could get omitted from the known-scanned list of devices.
  24. Added snmp support for certain Xerox printers.
  25. Better logging of email settings to facilitate troubleshooting
  26. Experimental support for non-ActiveDirectory LDAP servers. Allows users to override the LDAP attribute associated with the username, the full DN of the default user (vs username@domain), and the base DN to search from.
